Illegal ivory items on Ebay
There have been reports that over 2000 items made of ivory are for sale at any one time on Ebay. Elephants are a protected endangered species and ivory items may be both illegal and in breach of Ebay policy. Not surprisingly, according to the reports, complaints to Ebay do not commonly result in removal of these items. Ebay is not known for a consistent enforcement of its own policies, resulting in a less user friendly shopping environment, however, one might have hoped that they would pay more attention to the listing of illegal items.
I hope that Ebayers will not consider buying such items. Purchasing items made of ivory encourages poaching of elephants and endangering a continued existence of these species.
